HERBST Appliance

An Herbst appliance is applied to molars. It includes a metal tube that connects the upper and lower jaw.

By adjusting the tube, an orthodontist controls the jaw’s position as it relates to the top row of teeth. It often takes about 12 months for the entire process to be effective and complete.
